| God Hates Fags Thursday. 10.5.06 1:53 pm I was listening to Live 105 on the way to work this morning and they were talking about some protest in the City today. A listener called in and said that people were walking to the protest dragging American flags behind them. I was surprised at how upset I was about it. I understand that when people have very strong feelings/opinions about a topic they want to bring as much attention to themselves and their convictions as they can get. However their disgust with the way the government conducts themselves or whatever it is that compels them to destroy a prefectly good flag doesn't seem to me, to be the best way to convey their point of view. If anything, such theatrics would drive more moderate people away. Forget about convincing people of your view point when you can't even get them to listen to what you have to say. Along those lines, the morning show also mentioned a group, God Hates Fags, that have been known to protest the funerals of soldiers coming back from the Middle East, amongst other things. Their recent focus is the Amish School Shooting that occurred earlier this week in Pennyslvania. A spokeswoman was saying the those girls deserved to die. The girls that were lined up against the blackboard of their schoolhouse and shot execution style? Yes those girls . . . Yikes! I am constantly amazed at what people can convince themselves of. I look at that Amish community and think to myself, maybe they have it right. Maybe we shouldn't involve yourselves with the rest of the world, or nation, or even neighboring community. We should each build our own little community of people that all follow the same moral principles and be content in ourselves regardless of what the rest of the world thinks. But how do you keep others - outsiders from invading that? And isn't that exactly how the God Hates Fag people function (with the exception that they focus their beliefs down the throats of others)? Won't we ever get tired of hurting each other? 3 Comments. you know i think protesting can do some good on issues that the public isn't very aware of, or the govt isn't handling well. But i agree with you here, there is a line and once you cross it in your protest how often do the people really want to listen? it's seems to me like most of the people would rather hit the off button. » crochetmama on 2006-10-05 02:41:59 Ever since I've been in college, I've found out that most people who have a strong sense of morality, people who believe in the Golden Rule,(which is accepted in almost all religions, from Buddhist to Islam,) are equal in number to those who believe all that is important in life is looking out for number one. I guess that for ever selfish lobbyist, theres a mother theresa, and vice versa, and there'll always be someone willing to hurt others to achieve their goal. » Dilated on 2006-10-05 03:36:13 aww man i miss live 105 » invisibleinkling on 2006-10-05 11:06:07
